Zingy Homemade Salsa Verde

Really simple salsa recipe. Find out how to make this perfect accompaniment to pretty much anything!  We love it with a BBQ, with salmon, haloumi, sausages, salads…This salsa sauce is a game changer!

Steak & Salsa Verde

Salsa Ingredients

  • 2-4 fresh green chillies (seeds removed depending on how hot you like it)
  • a bunch of spring onions trimmed and roughly chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic halved
  • 1 tbsp capers washed and drained
  • a small packet of fresh parsley washed and dried
  • grated rind and juice of 1 lime
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 6 tbsps good quality extra virgin olive oil
  • splash of green Tabasco sauce (to your taste)
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Using a food processor whizz up the chillies, spring onion and garlic until roughly chopped.
  2. Add the capers and parsley and pulse until finely chopped.
  3. Mix in the lime juice and rind, lemon juice and oil.
  4. Finally add the Tabasco and season to taste before serving.

Top tip – You can make this salsa advance but make sure you store it in an airtight container in the fridge and use it within a few days before it discolours.
